What is Microneedling?

SkinPen is used for microneedling at Franco Aesthetics. SkinPen’s microneedles open tiny channels in the skin, triggering your immune system to increase blood flow and cause cellular turnover. SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. It rejuvenates the skin from the inside out for a younger-looking appearance. Microneedling is also referred to as collagen-induction therapy because it kick-starts collagen and elastin production in your skin.

Morpheus8 is a microneedling device that incorporates bipolar radiofrequency (RF) energy. Both modalities trigger collagen and elastin production, while the RF energy starts a process called fractional coagulation for remodeling in the deeper layers of the skin.

We can enhance the healing process even more by combining microneedling with platelet-rich plasma or PRP therapy. In PRP, we use a small blood sample to formulate a platelet-rich serum applied after a microneedling treatment when your skin is primed to absorb it deeply. How many treatments of Microneedling will I need?

Three treatments are required for optimal results, each spaced four weeks apart.

What is the downtime for Microneedling?

You will be required to avoid the sun for 24 hours after treatment, No retinol for 48 hours before treatment, and for five days after treatment. Avoid working out/sweating for 24 hours. Also, wear a clean mask and sleep on a clean pillowcase. Make-up can be worn after 24 hours, but 48 hours is preferred to allow the skin to breathe and heal.

Can I get Botox and Filler during my microneedling appointment?

Yes, but if you don’t do it the same day, you have to wait at least a week after microneedling to have Botox or filler. If you have had filler before, make sure you wait at least two weeks before your microneedling appointment.
