Dermaplaning in Norman, OK at Franco Aesthetics

What is Dermaplane?

Dermaplaning is a quick, gentle physical exfoliation that uses a sterile surgical blade to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face. Treatment takes about 30 minutes. There’s no downtime, no irritation, and an immediate result — smoother texture, brighter tone, and skin that takes makeup more evenly.

Beyond the immediate glow, dermaplaning lets your skincare products and serums penetrate more deeply because the dead-cell barrier is removed. Many patients book it before events, before HydraFacial or chemical peel sessions, or as a monthly maintenance treatment for ongoing brightness.

Performed by our licensed aesthetician team and overseen by Heather Franco, APRN, FNP-C — Franco Aesthetics’ owner and lead nurse practitioner. Heather sets the clinical protocols our team trains to. Patients see consistent, results-driven care across the team.

Dermaplane Facial vs. Add-On

Dermaplaning is a gentle, exfoliating treatment that removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) using a sterile surgical blade—revealing smoother, brighter, and more radiant skin instantly. At Franco Aesthetics & Wellness, we offer dermaplaning as a standalone facial for a deep, refreshing glow, or as a luxurious add-on to any HydraFacial to enhance product absorption and maximize results. It’s the perfect way to prep your skin for makeup or a big event—or simply to keep your complexion looking flawless.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No. This is the most common myth about dermaplaning. The fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) on your face is genetically determined — its color, thickness, and texture do not change because it’s been cut. The hair grows back the same way it was before.

How often should I get dermaplaned?

Most patients book monthly. The skin’s natural cell turnover cycle is about 28 days, so monthly dermaplaning maintains the smoothness and hair-free finish. Some patients book quarterly or before special events.

Does it hurt?

No. Most patients describe it as a light scraping or gentle stroking sensation. There’s no irritation or downtime.

Can I do it at home?

Drugstore “dermaplaning” tools are not the same as in-office dermaplaning. We use a sterile surgical-grade blade with proper technique to avoid nicks and irritation. At-home tools are dull and often cause more harm than good.

Can I combine dermaplaning with another treatment?

Yes. Dermaplaning pairs well with HydraFacial (immediately before for deeper product penetration) and chemical peels (immediately before for more even peel application). It does NOT pair with active retinol use — wait 5 days off retinol before treatment.

Who should NOT get dermaplaning?

Active acne breakouts, active rosacea flare, cold sores in the treatment area, or sunburn. We can reschedule until your skin is calm. Patients on isotretinoin should wait 6 months after stopping the medication.

Is there downtime?

None. Skin may look slightly pink for an hour or two. Most patients book a dermaplaning before lunch and return to work right after.

When will I see results?

Immediately. Skin looks brighter, smoother, and more even right after the treatment. Makeup goes on more evenly and skincare absorbs better for the next 1–2 weeks.
