Laser Hair Removal
At Franco Aesthetics, laser hair removal uses the InMode Diolaze XL — an 810 nm diode laser with an oversized spot and built-in contact cooling that delivers permanent hair reduction across virtually every body area. Diolaze targets the melanin in the hair follicle, heats it, and disables it. Surrounding skin stays cool and protected.
Common areas: underarms, bikini, legs, arms, back, chest, stomach, neck, chin, sideburns, upper lip — virtually anywhere with unwanted hair.
Skin tone: Diolaze is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin tones, including deeper skin tones where some other laser systems are not. Settings adjust to your skin and hair type.
Led by Shelby Bennett, RN — InMode National Trainer — and performed by our licensed clinical team. Shelby is certified by InMode to train other providers nationally and sets the technique standard for Diolaze at Franco Aesthetics. Results stay consistent across the team.

All About Laser Hair Removal
How does laser hair removal work?
Concentrated light energy is used in laser hair removal to target and heat the pigment (melanin) in hair follicles. During this process, the follicle is damaged, which consequently reduces its ability to regrow hair over time. As a result, smoother skin is achieved, and ultimately, long-term hair reduction is provided with each session.
Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?
Laser hair removal can be safely performed on most skin tones when the appropriate technology and technique are used. First, the Fitzpatrick skin type of each client is assessed—a scale ranging from Type I (very fair skin) to Type VI (deeply pigmented skin)—to determine the safest and most effective treatment settings. Additionally, an evaluation is conducted by our providers to determine whether a client is a suitable candidate for laser hair removal
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients need a series of 6–8 treatments, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, to achieve the best results. Every patient is different, and our providers will ensure a plan that works best for you. Hair grows in cycles, so multiple sessions ensure we treat all active follicles during the growth phase.
What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is versatile and can be used on almost any area of the body, including the face, underarms, legs, bikini area, back, chest, arms, and more. It’s great for both men and women looking to reduce unwanted hair safely and efficiently.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does laser hair removal work?
The Diolaze laser delivers a concentrated beam of light at 810 nm. Melanin in the hair follicle absorbs the light energy, heats up, and damages the follicle so it cannot produce new hair. Surrounding skin stays cool thanks to the contact cooling tip. Hair shedding starts within 1–3 weeks; full reduction builds over a series.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients need 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Hair grows in cycles and laser only works on actively-growing follicles, which is why multiple sessions are required to catch all hairs in their growth phase. After the initial series, occasional touch-ups every 6–12 months keep results sharp.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe it as a quick warm snap — like a rubber band. The Diolaze contact cooling tip helps significantly. Sensitive areas like the bikini and underarms can feel more intense; less sensitive areas (legs, back) are very tolerable.
Is Diolaze safe for my skin tone?
Yes — Diolaze is one of the few laser hair removal systems safe for all Fitzpatrick skin tones, including darker skin where some other laser systems carry hyperpigmentation risk. Settings adjust to your specific skin and hair type.
What body areas can be treated?
Underarms, bikini, full Brazilian, legs (full or lower), arms, back, chest, stomach, neck, chin, sideburns, upper lip — anywhere you have unwanted hair. Some areas (eye area, inside the ear) are not treated for safety reasons.
How should I prepare for treatment?
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment (do not wax or pluck — the follicle needs to be intact). Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 4 weeks before. Skip retinol and exfoliants in the treatment area for 7 days prior. Arrive with clean skin, no lotions or makeup on the area.
What is the aftercare?
Apply SPF 30+ daily. Avoid direct sun for at least a week. Skip hot showers, saunas, and intense workouts for 24–48 hours. Mild redness or swelling for a few hours is normal. Hair will start to shed within 1–3 weeks — that is the laser working.
How long do results last?
When sessions are completed properly, hair reduction is permanent for the treated follicles. Hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause, PCOS) can stimulate new follicles, so some patients return for periodic touch-ups. The initial series typically delivers 70–90% reduction.
