Lumecca IPL Photofacial in Norman, OK with InMode National Trainer Shelby Bennett, RN

What Is Lumecca IPL?

Lumecca is the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photofacial system from InMode — and it’s not the same as standard IPL. Lumecca delivers 40% more energy density in the 500–600 nm wavelength range, the peak absorption window for melanin (brown pigment from sun damage and age spots) and hemoglobin (red vessels and rosacea). That higher peak energy is what makes it possible to see visible improvement after a single session, where standard IPL often takes 3–4 to show noticeable change.

Lumecca treats sun damage, age spots, freckles, post-acne marks, rosacea, broken capillaries, and uneven skin tone — typically on the face, neck, upper chest (décolletage), hands, arms, and legs.

Led by Shelby Bennett, RN — InMode National Trainer — and performed by our licensed clinical team. Shelby is certified by InMode to train other providers nationally and sets the technique standard for Lumecca at Franco Aesthetics. Results stay consistent across the team.

What Can Lumecca IPL Treat?

Lumecca is a next-generation IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment by InMode, designed to target pigmentation, sun damage, redness, and vascular lesions. It uses strong pulses of light to break up pigment and stimulate skin renewal with minimal downtime.

How Lumecca Works

Lumecca uses selective photothermolysis — controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light energy that are absorbed by specific colored targets in your skin (melanin and hemoglobin) without damaging surrounding tissue. Brown pigment absorbs the light and breaks down into smaller particles. Red vessels heat and collapse. Your body clears both naturally over the next 7–10 days.

Treatment cadence: 1–6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart. Most patients see meaningful results after one session and book a series of 3 for full correction.

What to expect after: Pigmented spots typically darken first (a sign the treatment worked), then flake away within 7–10 days. Mild redness and warmth for a few hours post-session is normal. Daily SPF is non-negotiable for protecting results.

Skin tone considerations: Lumecca is most effective on Fitzpatrick I–III skin tones. For deeper skin tones, we may recommend an alternative pigment treatment to avoid the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Shelby will assess your skin during consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Lumecca hurt?

Most patients describe it as a quick snap of a rubber band followed by warmth. The cooling tip helps keep the skin comfortable throughout the session. Numbing cream is rarely needed.

How many treatments will I need?

1–6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart. Many patients see meaningful results after a single session and book a series of 3 for full correction. Maintenance sessions every 6–12 months keep results sharp.

What can Lumecca treat?

Sun damage, age spots, freckles, post-acne marks, rosacea, broken capillaries, and uneven skin tone. Treatment areas include the face, neck, upper chest (décolletage), hands, arms, and legs.

Is Lumecca safe for my skin tone?

Lumecca is most effective on Fitzpatrick I–III skin tones. For deeper skin tones, we may recommend an alternative pigment treatment to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Shelby will assess your skin during your consultation and recommend the right approach.

How long do results last?

For sun damage and age spots, results from a complete series last 1–2 years with proper sun protection. New sun exposure can create new spots, so daily SPF is essential. For rosacea and vascular concerns, periodic touch-up sessions every 6–12 months keep results consistent.

What should I expect during and after the treatment?

Treatment takes 20–30 minutes. You will see flashes of light through eye protection. Pigmented spots typically darken first (the “coffee ground” effect) — this is normal and means the treatment worked. Spots flake away within 7–10 days. Mild redness and warmth for a few hours post-session is expected.

What is the aftercare?

Wear SPF 30+ daily. Avoid direct sun for at least a week. Skip exfoliants, retinol, and hot showers for 48 hours. Don’t pick at darkened spots — let them flake naturally. Keep skin moisturized.

Can I do Lumecca year-round?

Yes, but timing matters. Treatment results are best when followed by minimal sun exposure for 4 weeks. Many patients schedule Lumecca series in fall and winter. Year-round treatment is possible if you commit to consistent SPF and limited direct sun.
