Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a regenerative treatment that uses concentrated growth factors from your own blood to stimulate healing, collagen production, and tissue regeneration. A small blood draw is processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma — which is then either injected back into the treatment area or applied topically during microneedling.
At Franco Aesthetics, we use PRP for three primary applications: microneedling enhancement (scalp and face/neck), under-eye rejuvenation, and hair restoration. PRP is derived from your own blood, so there’s no risk of allergic reaction.
Performed by our licensed clinical team and overseen by Heather Franco, APRN, FNP-C — Franco Aesthetics’ owner and lead nurse practitioner. Heather sets the clinical protocols our team trains to. Patients see consistent, results-driven care across the team.
How We Use PRP at Franco Aesthetics
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is derived directly from your own blood. During treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn and placed in a specialized centrifuge, which spins at high speeds to separate out the nutrient-rich platelets from red and white blood cells. These platelets are loaded with growth factors that are essential for healing, regeneration, and tissue repair.
Because PRP uses your body’s natural components, it’s incredibly safe, with virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. When injected or applied to the skin, PRP stimulates collagen production, enhances cellular turnover, and supports healthier, more radiant skin or hair growth over time. It’s a powerful, all-natural way to boost your body’s ability to restore and rejuvenate itself—without chemicals, fillers, or extended downtime.
Where Can You Add PRP?
Microneedling (Scalp and Face/Neck)
When paired with microneedling, PRP significantly enhances skin rejuvenation by accelerating healing and stimulating deeper collagen production. After the microchannels are created during treatment, your own platelet-rich plasma is applied or injected into the skin, amplifying results by improving texture, tone, and the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and dullness. This combination is ideal for clients seeking radiant, youthful skin with minimal downtime.
Under-Eye injections
PRP is a powerful option for under-eye rejuvenation, particularly in treating dark circles, puffiness, and crepey skin. Because the area around the eyes is delicate and prone to early aging, injecting your body’s own healing plasma helps thicken the skin, improve texture, and stimulate long-term collagen—naturally restoring a brighter, more awake appearance without fillers or surgery.
Hair Restoration
PRP injections into the scalp are a breakthrough solution for those experiencing thinning hair or early hair loss. The high concentration of growth factors found in PRP stimulates dormant hair follicles, improves circulation, and supports healthier, thicker hair growth over time. It’s a non-surgical, natural approach to restoring fullness and confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does PRP treat?
Three primary uses at Franco Aesthetics: skin rejuvenation when paired with microneedling (texture, fine lines, tone), under-eye rejuvenation (dark circles, puffiness, crepey skin), and hair restoration (thinning hair, early hair loss). PRP is also used to support healing after various aesthetic treatments.
How does it work?
A small amount of your blood is drawn (similar to a routine blood test) and processed in a centrifuge that separates the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. The PRP — concentrated with growth factors and healing proteins — is then either injected into the treatment area or applied topically during microneedling.
How many sessions will I need?
Skin and under-eye: typically 3 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with maintenance every 6–12 months. Hair restoration: 3–4 initial sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, with maintenance every 4–6 months.
Is PRP safe?
Yes — PRP uses your own blood, so there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. Mild bruising, swelling, or tenderness at injection sites for 24–48 hours is normal.
Does it hurt?
For under-eye and scalp injections, we apply topical numbing 30 minutes before treatment. For microneedling with PRP, the topical numbing handles most discomfort. Most patients describe pressure or mild stinging, not pain.
When will I see results?
Skin rejuvenation: gradual improvement over 4–12 weeks as collagen builds. Under-eye: subtle improvement at 2 weeks, with continued change up to 8 weeks. Hair restoration: visible regrowth typically takes 3–6 months.
What is the downtime?
Minimal. Skin treatments: mild redness 24–48 hours. Under-eye: possible bruising 3–7 days. Hair restoration: minimal — possible mild scalp tenderness for 24 hours. Most patients return to normal activity the same or next day.
Who is NOT a good candidate?
Active infection in the treatment area, blood disorders affecting platelet function, current chemotherapy or immunosuppressive therapy, severe anemia, pregnancy or breastfeeding. We screen at consultation.
